Cross border RV rental

When you are planning the camper road trip of your dreams it could very well be that you want to visit more than one country. Think about popular trips such as combining the northern states with Canada, South Africa and Namibia. Or a trip through the Scandinavian countries Norway, Sweden and Finland. Whether or not you are allowed to make a so called cross border trip depends on the conditions of the camper supplier.

USA and Canada

There are several camper suppliers in America that allow cross border trips to Canada, free of charge. Canadream does charge a small fee per day that you spend in the USA. An important condition is that you always have to return the camper in the country where you picked it up. Also keep in mind that you have to arrange the necessary travel documents yourself. The bigger border crossings are often open 24 hours a day. Smaller crossings, on popular scenic byways for instance, do close at certain times. Be aware that not all supplies and goods can be brought cross border. Fruit and vegetables for instance are not allowed cross border. At the border crossing you will be asked to fill out a form and pay a small fee for a visa. Depending on your nationality, you might have to arrange a visa beforehand. Check with your local US or Canadian Embassy to be certain which rules apply for you.

Africa

Our suppliers in Africa all allow cross border travel. However a surcharge will be added to your booking fee. You will also have to return the vehicle in the country where you picked it up. For necessary travel documents you should check with the embassy of the country you are visiting. For most European travellers, a fee is necessary at the borders of Namibia and Botswana and Zimbabwe and you will receive either a visa or stamp in your passport.

Europe

Europeans traveling within Europe won’t need extra travel documents to cross borders. Other nationalities are advised to check with their local government. Most camper suppliers do allow cross border travel. Some even allow international one ways. However in most cases a surcharge will be added to your booking. Check the terms & conditions of the supplier of your choice.
